About Author Phil Carlson

Phil Carlson has dedicated his life to the law enforcement and security profession. Phil’s career began in 1982 and he has over three decades of operational and training experience. He has worked for the Cromwell, CT Police Department, the Brevard County, FL Sheriff’s Office, the Orange County, FL Sheriff’s Office, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), where he was the Lead Senior Instructor over the Law Enforcement Control Tactics Instructor Training Program, including Tactics and Use of Force. After his retirement from law enforcement, he served as the Director of Corporate Security for an international telecom / energy firm, and he is currently the Director of Asset Protection and Investigations for a multi-billion dollar company operating in over 90 countries. He was the Founder of Policing Performance Concepts, LLC and was also an instructor for the Bureau Of Justice Assistance (BJA) VALOR Officer Safety Program.
